Solicitors at Nash & Co

Solicitors at Nash & Co are at the heart of our legal practice, working closely with clients to provide expert advice, represent them in legal matters, and handle cases with professionalism and dedication. As frontline legal practitioners, solicitors are responsible for managing their own caseloads, conducting research, preparing legal documents, and ensuring that clients receive the best possible outcomes.

The role of a solicitor at Nash & Co offers a balance of independence and team support. While solicitors manage their cases autonomously, they also benefit from a collaborative environment in which they can seek advice from more experienced colleagues, including associates and partners. This supportive structure helps solicitors continually learn and grow in their roles, building the expertise they need to handle increasingly complex legal challenges.

Career progression for solicitors at Nash & Co is clearly defined, with opportunities to specialise in particular areas of law or advance to senior positions within the firm. We encourage solicitors to take an active role in their professional development, helping them to expand their skills, broaden their legal knowledge, and ultimately advance to associate and partner levels as they build their careers with us.

Associate Solicitors at Nash & Co

Associates at Nash & Co Solicitors are experienced legal professionals who have built a strong foundation in their area of expertise and are ready to take on more responsibility within the firm. They play a vital role in managing cases, leading client interactions, and contributing to the firm's success. Associates often handle complex legal matters with a higher level of autonomy, while still benefiting from the guidance and support of partners and senior colleagues.

One of the key aspects of being an associate at Nash & Co is the opportunity for continuous professional development. Associates are encouraged to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of law, refine their skills, and expand their leadership capabilities. The firm supports associates in setting clear career goals, and offers them the tools and resources they need to progress toward partnership or other senior roles within the firm.

Associates are also actively involved in mentoring junior solicitors and trainees, helping them navigate the early stages of their legal careers. This mentoring role not only strengthens the firm's culture of collaboration but also allows associates to develop their own leadership and coaching skills, setting the stage for future advancement within the firm.

Partners at Nash & Co

Partners at Nash & Co Solicitors hold a pivotal role in driving the firm’s success and shaping its future direction. As leaders within the firm, our partners bring a wealth of experience, legal knowledge and business acumen to their positions, guiding both clients and colleagues with strategic insight. Partners are responsible for not only managing their own high-profile cases, but also overseeing the work of other solicitors and ensuring that the firm's standards of excellence are consistently met.

In addition to their legal expertise, partners are instrumental in the firm’s growth strategy, focusing on business development and client relationships. They work closely with the leadership team to identify new opportunities, expand the firm’s client base, and strengthen its market presence. Partners at Nash & Co are also actively involved in decision-making processes that affect the firm's direction, culture and values, making them key influencers within the organisation.

Mentorship is another crucial aspect of a partner’s role. At Nash & Co, partners are not just leaders; they are also mentors who invest in the development of the next generation of solicitors. By sharing their knowledge, providing guidance and nurturing talent within the firm, partners help cultivate a collaborative environment where everyone can grow and succeed.

Plymouth and the surrounding area

Plymouth Barbican

The South West, and in particular, Devon and Cornwall, is a great place to live and work.

There are many reasons why people choose to relocate here and why PwC has recognised Plymouth as the number one city in the UK to live. But the biggest reason of all? The lifestyle that comes with calling Plymouth home.

Within half an hour of leaving our office, you can be sitting on one of the best beaches in Britain with your family, waiting for coals to heat on the barbecue or tucking into local seafood at a beach cafe right on the sand. Just a couple of minutes’ walk from the office and you can be dining at Michelin-applauded restaurants or watching an award-winning West End musical at the largest and most visited theatre outside of London.

It may come as little surprise that Britain’s Ocean City holds great allure for watersports enthusiasts. Our location right by the sea means you can be kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding before the work day begins, wild swimming at lunch, and sailing into Plymouth Sound as the sun sets on another day in the office. The sea around us is a diver’s paradise too.

If activities on dry land are more your thing, we are blessed with some fantastic golf courses, the wild and beautiful ruggedness of Dartmoor, and family attractions like the National Marine Aquarium, The Box Museum, and the Eden Project just an hour away in Cornwall. As a city we host an impressive array of free events each year, from Pirates Weekend and Flavour Fest to Armed Forces Day, Seafest and even the British Firework Championships. Never again need you hear little voices whisper the words “I’m bored…”

We have enough happening here to make it difficult to leave, but Plymouth is exceedingly well-connected when you do choose to. We have international ferry links to Spain and France, and London is just three hours away by train. Exeter and Newquay airports are just an hour away, and Bristol Airport is just under two hours. Head out by car via the A38 Expressway and you’ll be in Exeter in 45 minutes, with Bristol city centre just under two hours away.

But we aren’t just all scenery and stuff to do. When it comes to work, there is a great calibre of client available to lawyers in Plymouth and around the counties of Devon and Cornwall. Amongst other things, Plymouth has one of the largest concentrations of manufacturers in Britain. We are the fifteenth biggest city in Britain and growing - we currently have over £1billion worth of development work underway, with the next few years set to see significant capital investment in the HM Devonport naval base and Derriford Hospital, not to mention massive regeneration of the surrounding area. A large-scale housing and apartment-building programme is also underway, including luxury apartments right next to the sea.

Plymouth hosts a vibrant mix of innovative, globally-leading businesses ranging from marine and high-tech manufacturing to healthcare and research, not to mention digital, arts and creative industries: in 2024, Arts University Plymouth was ranked one of the ten best in the UK for Arts, Drama and Music by the Complete University Guide.

Half an hour after leaving our office, and you can be sitting on one of the UK’s top beaches with your family.

Where would you be half an hour after leaving your office now?

Our office - Beaumont House in Plymouth

If you are in a reasonably large city, then the chances are that in thirty minutes’ time you’ll still be commuting…

Here, 30 minutes after leaving the office, you can be sitting on one of the best beaches, next to one of Devon’s most gorgeous villages, with your family. This is what we want for you, a life in which more time is spent away from the office doing the things you really want to do. Whether that means paddleboarding, playing with the kids, walking, surfing, cycling, running or just more quality time with the family, the perfect work/life balance does exist and it is here in Plymouth.

Our office itself sits in Beaumont Park, one of Plymouth's real hidden treasures. We’re literally a five minute walk from the City Centre, just a few minutes from the harbour and renowned independent shops, bars and restaurants. You can be in Cornwall within 15 minutes of finishing for the day, on Dartmoor in 20 minutes and zipping up your wetsuit at Bantham within 45 minutes when the surf’s up.

When it comes to the practical stuff, our schools are fantastic, crime rates are low and housing is still very affordable compared to much of the UK. Fancy calling a four-bedroom barn conversion by the beach home? That will cost you less than £600,000 in a pretty South Hams village here. Perhaps you’d prefer city living in a luxury harbourside apartment for just over £200,000 or a four-bedroom family townhouse in one of Plymouth's best suburbs for less than £500,000? (All prices accurate - October 2024).

The lifestyle is one reason PwC selected Plymouth as the number one city in the UK to live in 2024, but there are endless reasons to call our city home.
